Introduction: Human life is very short compared to the universe. To make this small human life beautiful and meaningful, specific goals are needed. A life without a goal is like a boat without a rudder. A life without direction becomes disorientated by the whirlwind of time. So a goal should be fixed at the beginning of life. It is possible to reach the goal of life if you move forward with hard work, dedication, perseverance and concentration.
Necessity of setting goals: I have thought about the purpose of life from a very young age. I was young then. The mind was restless. I was happy with what I saw around. I used to see airplanes roaring in the sky and thought I would be a pilot. I used to read stories about the amazing inventions of scientist Newton, Alva Edison or Galileo in school books and thought, I will become a scientist one day. After reading the poems of Rabindranath or Nazrul, I thought that one day I will be a world famous writer like them. After growing up a little, when knowledge and wisdom increased a little, then I realized that nothing can happen just by wishing. So I decided my goal in life with a lot of thought – I will become a doctor when I grow up. One of the purposes of setting this goal is human service.
Reasons to study medicine in future: Medical services in our country are now limited and expensive. The number of doctors is very less in proportion to the huge population of the country. Village farmers and common people do not get good medical care now. A business mentality has now crept into many of the big doctors. This situation needs to be changed. I want a dedicated doctor for this. So I want to be a good doctor.
Moving forward with life goals: I am now preparing to reach my goals. I have always been interested in mathematics and science. Apart from the prescribed readings of the school, when I have free time, I read science books, do maths. I marvel at the mysteries of nature. I enjoy reading stories of inventions. So I chose science department in class 9. After passing the secondary examination, I will study science even if I go to college. Biology will be one of my subjects then. Hopefully, if I study regularly, I will get golden GPA in both secondary and higher secondary exams. I strongly believe that I can clear the medical college entrance exam. I hope to specialize in any branch of medicine.
Public service and career: I want to start career as a specialist doctor. I will see patients independently without accepting government jobs. For this I will choose the place of village i.e. upazila level. The city is a good place to make more money, but I have no use for money. A good city doctor does not want to live in a village. As a result, rural people have to come to the city for complex diseases. But people in poor villages do not have that financial stability. How many people die without treatment due to financial difficulties. I want to serve those poor people in the village. They will have access to free medical care. I will collect certain fees from the rich. My desire is to create a systematic model of healthcare for the people in the villages. So that the people of villages deprived of medical services get appropriate medical services.
Conclusion: Medicine is not only a profession but also has great opportunities for human service in this profession. Lawyer, engineer, economist, magistrate—the profession of medicine is completely different from these colorful professions. Money is earned in the medical profession and there are direct opportunities for human service in this profession. So I want to be a doctor after all. This is my goal in life.
