Welcome to Basics Press new post. Hope everyone is well. By God grace I am fine too. So today I brought it The James Webb Telescope makes it possible to photograph the past while sitting in the present! – Quran and scienceThe James Webb Telescope makes it possible to photograph the past while sitting in the present! – Quran and science.
I asked an older brother in the class, do you know that a few days ago, scientists published a picture of space billions of years ago, which was taken at the present time. Some of the people around were surprised and said, “Hey, how can it be possible to take pictures of the past while sitting in the present?” Answered, space explorer NASA has invented a telescope last year, named ‘James Webb Space Telescope’. With this telescope one can see the past while sitting in the present. Before the end of the conversation, some people said, far these are fake! All fake talk! They are fooling people. I said, not fake! It is absolutely true. All scientists agree on this. Hearing this, everyone started laughing and said in a mocking tone, how many things scientists say. How can you take pictures of billions of years ago sitting in the present? These are nothing but imagination. I replied, “Do you know that?” Everything we see around us is not the present state, we see the past. The sun that you see outside, we are also seeing the past. Even now that you are sitting in front of me, I do not see your exact present condition. Rather, we are all seeing a bit of each other’s past.
After being a student of Qaumi Madrasa and speaking such nonsense in class, I became a kind of Pabna resident to everyone. Some say, Masum has gone crazy today!
The next day the elder brother asked me, you are now pressing the phone and smiling, is this also your past? I replied that I am pressing the phone now, it is my present, but the phone I am looking at is the past. Similarly, now that I am smiling is my present, but the smile that you see is the past. He did not let my strange words into his head. That’s why I didn’t think it was necessary to ask for an explanation.
To understand its explanation, we need to understand the speed of light. Without diving into a deep discussion of how this idea was first discovered and how it was measured, I will simply say that we know that light has a definite speed. In that proportion, it can be said that the light of the torch light that we catch on the road for walking in the dark requires some time to fall on the road according to the distance of the torch from the ground. But it is very small, which is not detected by our common eyes. As a result it seems to have no momentum. Whereas, the speed of light in vacuum is about 3 lakh kilometers per second. That is, light takes only 1 second to travel 3 lakh kilometers.
The bright sun that you always see in the sky is so far from the earth that it takes about 8 minutes and 19 seconds for its light to reach our earth. That is, 8 minutes and 19 seconds ago, the sunlight started its journey towards the earth. Then the light travels a huge distance according to its specific speed and reaches the earth after 8 minutes and 19 seconds. This means that the bright sun you see every day is not its current state. Instead, you see the situation 8 minutes and 19 seconds ago. This sun may have set a few minutes ago, falling behind our rotating Earth. But you still see him in the West. For, although the sun has set, the scene of its setting is still in motion in space. Which will catch your eye after some time.
The stars you see twinkling in the clear sky of a cloudless night are not their current state. They are located at such a great distance from our Earth that you can see their past state from hundreds of years to thousands of years ago.
Whether you are reading this article on mobile, laptop or desktop, this is not the current situation. You see past the speed of light to some degree depending on the distance from your eye to the skin.
Thus, whatever we see around us, we can say that we see its past. Because when we look at an object, it takes some time for its shape to reach our eyes at the speed of light. But it is so small that we do not realize it.
If you are taking a picture of someone with your camera while standing in nature in the late afternoon, you are also taking his past. The further away he is from the camera, the more distant the image becomes. Because it takes a little time for the light to reach the camera sensor from the person standing in front of the camera.
Such is the case with the James Webb Telescope. That is, the more distant the scene can be seen with it, the more the past will be seen. So when the view of the location of the galaxy billions of light-years away in the vacuum of space comes to the sensor of this telescope, the scene can be seen billions of years ago. Which is not visible to our naked eyes.

People did not know the speed of light. It was first discovered in 1676 by Danish scientist Ole Roemer. And the interesting thing is that this discovery and the speed of light was proved by Ole Roemer by observing the scene of the past through a telescope. Through the telescope, he observed that the eclipse of Io, a satellite of Jupiter, was observed later on Earth than ever before. And this happens when the distance between the planets Jupiter increases due to the rotation of the Earth. Which means, it is not a new thing that it is possible to see the past through the ‘James Webb Telescope’. On the contrary, it was proven by the scientist Ole Roemer several hundred years ago by discovering the speed of light. But the surprising thing is that what Ole Raymer discovered only a few hundred years ago, it exists thousands of years ago in the Qur’an and the hadith of the Prophet.
According to the hadith we all know that the Prophet (PBUH) went to Me’raj riding a Bora. One step of which is the speed of vision. The Arabic word ‘borak’ is derived from ‘barak’. Which Allah Ta’ala mentions in total five places in the Qur’an. Where every time Bijli is used in the sense of flashing, since the word ‘borak or barak’ means lightning or light. Which means standing, the Prophet (PBUH) performed at the speed of light. That is, the hadith says borak has a motion and the Qur’an says borak means light. By this it is clear that light has a speed. Which was first proved by Ole Raymer in 1676 after the Qur’an hadith.
Think about it, the speed of light which science today can see billions of years ago was proven only a few hundred years ago. And the speed of light which has been proven only a few hundred years ago, the indication of the speed of light has been mentioned in the Quran and Hadith thousands of years before today. That is, the speed of light and due to this speed the past can be seen even in the present, our Qur’an hadith has been confirming since then, when even science did not know anything about it. Think about it, if the Qur’an hadith was not true, if the Prophet was not true, if this Islam was not true, then how did these mysterious scientific information come to the religious books and hadith of the Prophet thousands of years ago? The real truth is that if there is any true religion on earth, it is the only religion. Remember that verse, where Allah says “Innad Deena Indallahil Islam”!
