Adolescent changes

Among the changes during puberty, physical or physical changes are the first to be noticed. Seeing this change is a sign that someone is going through puberty. From infancy to adolescence, children grow slowly over time. But adolescent growth is quite abrupt. Children suddenly grow taller (Figure 4.01), and gain weight rapidly. After the age of ten, for three to four years, the body of girls and boys undergoes various changes. For various reasons people in our country hesitate to discuss these very natural changes. But since you are now going through puberty, it is good to know what changes will happen in you. Then you can prepare for your future life without fear or shame.

Puberty causes change

Generally the period of 11-19 years of children is called adolescence. You have come to know that the physical and mental condition of children changes a lot during this time. However, due to variations in weather, location, quantity and quality of food intake, the timing of puberty can vary from person to person.

The changes that occur during puberty are caused by chemicals called hormones, which are secreted by the endocrine glands. Hormones are produced inside the body through normal physiological processes. Boys and girls body hormones are different. Because of this, the changes in their body and mind are also different. Two hormones are mainly responsible for various changes in the female body. The names of these two hormones are estrogen and progesterone. Under the influence of these hormones, there is a change in voice, rapid physical growth and other changes, including the increase in the size of various parts of the body. Due to this hormone, menstruation starts in girls. Girls usually start menstruating when they are 10-17 years old. A sign of a woman’s fertility is regular menstruation. The onset of menstruation is a sign of good health.

Bangladeshi women usually stop menstruating between the ages of 45-55. This menstrual cycle occurs every 28 days or once a month and usually lasts for 3-7 days. Testosterone is the hormone responsible for various changes in the body of boys during puberty. Under the influence of this hormone, their physical and mental changes occur. Boys’ voices are heavy. Beard and mustache grow on face (Fig. 4.02), rapid physical growth. Boys between 13 and 15 years of age develop sperm and sometimes ejaculate during sleep at night. Both boys and girls undergo physical changes as well as mental changes. Boys and girls at this age are imaginative and driven by emotions. They want to keep themselves tidy. At this time, boys are attracted to girls and girls are attracted to boys. This is how teenagers gradually become adults.
